Teen Angels Magazine
I’ve heard about this magazine for years, I know Aaron Rose from Alleged Gallery always had some around back in the day, and he was definitely influenced by it. He wrote an article about TA for ANP Quarterly a few years back. I really don’t know the whole story about the history of this magazine, just that it started in 1981 and is still bein’ published to this day.
The vintage ones have that old school cut ‘n paste zine feel that’s hard to get nowadays, as witnessed in the more recent covers use of computer layout. The early covers have that janky printing quality that reminds me old underground comix, vintage reggae 45′s, or old firework labels.
I haven’t seen many mags that represent a subculture better than this one.
It’s live and uncut, made by those who are really livin’ it,
with a funk that is all D.I.Y.
Romance runs through it like an echoin’ oldies song.
It’s the magazine version of a tattooed teardrop.
