Neckface will turn Miami inside out for his premiere solo exhibition in the Magic City. This Halloween night, Neckface will deconstruct all 10,000 square feet of O.H.W.O.W. and build a world like no other. Featuring a large-scale haunted house installation, complete with Neckface‘s iconic imagery, the Devil’s Disciple exhibition is designed to frighten viewers as they enter the space.
The crux of the exhibition though will surely be Neckface‘s new work. A deviation from the norm, it is chock-full of his signature imagery interweaved with a personal dimension that is much more palpable in the paintings. After so many years of crafting a persona and building up walls around himself and his moniker, the reclusive Neckface has finally cracked open the door ever so slightly and let us into his world.
With the introduction of historical and pop culture references into the visual storytelling, the paintings have grown more complex and more intricate. This newer imagery is balanced by considered application of wit throughout the work in the signature Neckface hand style. In addition to the paintings, a series of metal mask sculptures will be on display. Reminiscent of African Woyo masks, Neckface reworks the sculptures with sharp edges and creates an object that is distinctly contemporary and unmistakably his.
There’s no doubt that Devil’s Disciple will be a breakout exhibition for Neckface. The work created will surely be considered his finest to date and is anticipated to redefine him and endear him to a whole new legion of fans.
The types of evidence von Däniken cites can be categorized as follows:
The existence of structures and artifacts have been found which represent higher technological knowledge than is presumed by Däniken to have existed at the times they were manufactured. Däniken maintains that these artifacts were produced either by extraterrestrial visitors or by humans who learned the necessary knowledge from them. Such artifacts include the Egyptian pyramids, Stonehenge, and the Moai of Easter Island. Further examples include a medieval map known as the Piri Reis Map, allegedly showing the Earth as it is seen from space, and the Nazca lines in Peru, which he explains as landing strips for an airfield.
Interpretations of ancient artwork throughout the world as depictions of astronauts, air and space vehicles, extraterrestrials, and complex technology. Däniken also describes elements that he believes are similar in art of unrelated cultures.
Explanations for the origins of religions as reactions to contact with an alien race. According to Däniken, humans considered the technology of the aliens to be supernatural and the aliens themselves to be gods. Däniken asks if the oral and literal traditions of most religions contain references to visitors from stars and vehicles traveling through air and space. These, he says, should be interpreted as literal descriptions which have changed during the passage of time and become more obscure. An example is Ezekiel‘s revelation in Old Testament, which he interprets as a detailed description of a landing spacecraft. Däniken attempts to draw an analogy with the “cargo cults” that formed during and after World War II, when once-isolated tribes in the South Pacific mistook the advanced American and Japanese soldiers for gods.
The two most controversial proposals were that Biblical characters were inspired by the extraterrestrials, and humans acquired their superior intelligence by mating with aliens. -wiki

The founder of the magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland and avid collector of Hollywood horror memorabilia died December 4th.
As a kid I was greatly influenced by this magazine. The cover illustrations were enough to burn an evil image into my impressionable grey matter. The creature features helped twist my developin’ mind, hippin’ me to a whole history of cult movies that I had a undyin’ hunger to consume.
The typography of the mag alone was somethin’ else. Hand drawn horror fonts galore! The headline copy read like the way old radio DJ’s , like Wolfman Jack, talked, jokey puns and alliteration, creatin’ an hip insiders vibe that no other mag could copy.
The Misfits logo is a direct bite offa the magazine logo.
The Ackermonster popularized Monster culture and Horror/Sci-Fi fandom, layin’ the groundwork for better or worse, for today’s nerd hyper-collectors, Trekkies, and convention fanboy types, by creating a worldwide network of horror/fantasy/science fiction fans, this was in the pre-internet, pre-video store, pre-digital era.
