SSKREEEEEONGK!

  • According to police, Wal-Mart employees discovered photographs of a man Monday – dressed in a woman’s camisole, fishnet stalkings and nothing in between.

At least 9 photographs of the mostly-nude man were left on shelves in the cosmetic department and the windshields of various cars in the parking lot. Loss prevention employees were able to use surveillance video images to determine the suspect’s vehicle.

  • An agitated Russian man aroused the suspicion of Polish officers whilst he endeavoured to cross the border by car into Kaliningrad.

To the officials’ surprise, it turned out that the man was carrying two antique watches, one of which was emblazoned with swastikas and other Nazi insignia.

The watches were confiscated, as it is illegal to export pre-1945 antiques from Poland without a permit.

The Hitler pocket watch, made by the firm Junghans, still functions as a timepiece, and it has now been handed to the Warsaw seat of the Museum of the History of Poland.

  • Tara Lyons, 38, was arrested and charged with assault and battery and burglary after she climbed over the counter at an Oakland Park Burger King and started throwing breakfast sandwiches and condiments at employees.

On March 2, Lyons was allegedly upset over a breakfast sandwich she spent $1.06 for in the drive thru, Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives said Monday.

  • Woman seeking tall, brown-haired, blue-eyed man with smaller than average nose and a strong jaw. According to a new dating website set to launch this month, FindYourFaceMate.com thinks that’s what I should be looking for in a mate. They apparently discovered what we all want in a partner: someone who looks like we do. I’m not so sure I’d make a handsome man, but “scientific evidence” says facial resemblance in couples is a phenomenon that can lead to a lifetime of happiness.

The website will be powered by facial recognition software and will compare faces in nine different points, then users can narrow down their matches based on values and personal style. At first I thought this was just some gimmick the new dating site was using to stand out, but now I’m wondering if this isn’t a site determined to keep relationships within the same race.

  • Lent in the Christian tradition is a time of sacrifice and penance. It also is a period of purification and enlightenment. Pain purifies. It atones for sin and cleanses the soul. Or at least that’s the idea. Theological questions aside, can self-inflicted pain really alleviate the guilt associated with immoral acts? A new study published in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science, explores the psychological consequences of experiencing bodily pain.
  • This is from the first test of the Geminoid. The first hint of a smile triggers immediate response. The people laughing in the background are the designers, who at this point have worked on the robot for months, and here see it operated for the first time.
  • The founder of the hipster American Apparel clothing line held a teen worker captive and forced her to perform sex acts, she charges in an explosive suit.

Irene Morales, now 20, is seeking $260 million in damages from her famed former boss, Dov Charney, 42, for enduring eight anguished months of forced sex, according to a suit filed in Brooklyn Supreme Court.

She says in court papers that in April 2008, when she was 18, Charney invited her to his Manhattan pad, opened the door wearing only his briefs and “forced her to go down on her knees just inside the front door and perform fellatio upon him.”

He then threw her on the bed and made her repeat the same sex act, “nearly suffocating her in the process,” the suit says.

“She was then, to all intents and purposes, held prisoner in the apartment for several hours and forced to perform additional sexual acts,” the suit says.

  • President Obama signed an executive order Monday that will create a formal system of indefinite detention for those held at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, who continue to pose a significant threat to national security. The administration also said it will start new military commission trials for detainees there.
  • “I don’t know the exact number of people involved,” James Evans said. “I’ve heard as many as 28 or more.”

The case has sharply divided the community, according to CNN affiliate KHOU, which reported the girl was 11 years old.

  • David Davis, 20, was getting his hair done in a Stamford apartment this afternoon when the attack occurred. Davis, pictured in the above mug shot, was arrested for felony assault. He is currently jailed in lieu of $5000 bond.
  • Californian fishermen and harbour chiefs were puzzled after millions of dead anchovies were found floating in a marina just south of Los Angeles on Tuesday.
  • less than 10 seconds, a man who steps into flowing corn can sink up to his chest, becoming immobilized, said Robert Aherin, agriculture safety leader in the department of agricultural engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Within another 10 seconds, he’ll be completely submerged and unable to breathe, essentially drowned in corn.
  • At about 9:45 p.m., witnesses say it turned ugly. During a program intermission, a fight erupted between two crews, quickly spiraling into a full-scale brawl in the hotel atrium. Witnesses said that between 20 and 60 people were involved in the altercation. Punches were thrown. Bottles were broken. Tables were flipped.
  • A wild street brawl captured on video (and gone viral online) has resulted in the arrest of three female assailants and Delaware cops are confident that additional busts will follow.

As seen in the below video (which contains profanities), a verbal dispute turned violent when two Dover residents were attacked by a swarm of neighbors who punched and stomped the victims in front of their East Reed Street home.

  • Frankenstein’s creation of a living being became a key image of modern science’s quest to unlock the secrets of life itself. But, in 1854, an experiment far stranger than anything in Mary Shelley’s novel took place when a New England clergyman married science and spiritualism in an attempt to build nothing less than a god. Robert Damon Schneck set out to discover why… and what happened to the metal deity.
  • We just obtained a copy of the complaint (below) that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) made against him — and they don’t even allege that he made a copy of anything! Just that he ran what they call a “linking website” which linked to various sites with copyrighted material. Under that sort of thinking, everyone who’s sent around a link to a copyrighted YouTube video is a criminal.
  • And yet, that is just the case made in the ebook deal HarperCollins is offering to libraries. HarperCollins has informed libraries that henceforth, ebooks will be sold on the condition that they can only be circulated 26 times before they self-destruct. HarperCollins argues that this reflects the usage characteristics of the print editions that HarperCollins has sold to libraries for literally centuries. That is, HarperCollins argues that once one of its print books lands on the shelves of a local library, it will only survive for 26 checkouts before it has to be discarded because it is in such an unreadable state.

Jumping Off The GW Bridge Sorry.

    • But Tan also found that female bat will often bend down to lick the shaft of her mate’s penis during sex itself. This behaviour happened on 70% of the videos, making it the only known example of regular fellatio in a non-human animal. It also prolonged the sexual encounter – males never withdrew their penises when they were being licked and, on average, the behaviour bought the couple an extra 100 seconds of sex over and above the usual 2 minutes. The licking itself only lasted for 20 seconds on average, so each second of it buys six extra seconds of penetration.
    • “An oral masturbation was recorded when a male sat with head lowered and an erect penis in his mouth, being stimulated with both mouth (fellatio) and forepaws (masturbation), while the lower torso moved forward and backwards in thrusting motions, finally culminating in an apparent ejaculation, after which the male appeared to consume the ejaculate.”
    • You never thought you’d see the day, but ivory is back in fashion – mammoth ivory, that is. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, mammoth-mining is big business in Russia. Tusks from the long-gone species are being reclaimed from their mass graveyard in the Siberian tundra, and each year 60 tonnes are exported to China, home to the world’s largest ivory market. Aside from being worth significantly more than elephant tusks, mammoth ivory is being touted as an ethical alternative to the illegal poaching trade, which persists in threatening the conservation of the living species. Michelle Obama is one fan, and has been seen wearing Monique Péan necklaces sculpted from mammoth tusks.
    • A State Department official confirmed in April that “any company, including Xe Services [another name for Blackwater] and its subsidiary companies, [may] submit a proposal in response to an acquisition process established on the basis of full and open competition.” Despite the slayings of civilians at Nisour Square in Iraq in 2007 — which got Blackwater de-certified by the Iraqi government — and on the road in Kabul in 2009, no federal acquisition official has ever recommended that Blackwater be barred from bidding on government contracts. That means it would violate federal law to prevent Blackwater from entering a bid.
    • Imagine marijuana substituted for alcohol in this story. The article would be presented as a scary expose about workers smoking a daily dime-bag and marijuana growers’ linking pot with the Army. Undoubtedly, such an article would be on the front page of every newspaper as cause for outrage. Yet, because this was about alcohol — remember, a substance more toxic than marijuana — it was buried in a financial magazine and depicted as something to extol.
    • Artist Yuri Suzuki has created a range of musical wonders including an electronic instrument played by jellyfish, a tuneful train track and a miniature vehicle that interprets different colors as sounds.
    • Police in New Zealand burning off seized cannabis were left red-faced when a change in the wind sent smoke billowing over a primary school, it was reported Tuesday.
    • “She was going door to door in the apartments and trying to sell the marijuana,” Gonzalez said. Inside the apartment, police found cocaine packaged for sale and with a street value of about $5,000 — but no marijuana. “I’m pretty sure she heard the mom or the dad doing that,” Gonzalez said, adding the girl was simply imitating her parents, who he believes sold drugs.

The Kiss Of A Thousand Tongues

    • Eric Bishop and Justin Forcum managed a tricky escape from jail, stole a pickup truck and scored narcotics before getting nabbed as they tried to head back inside, according to police in McDonald County, MO. Of their alleged great escape and capture upon returning to a little hole they’d wormed out of only two hours previously, Undersheriff Bud Gow said, “”I really couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t believe they came back, you would think if you got out you’d stay out instead of trying to sneak back in.”
    • Danzig found out about the comic done by “art fraternity” Igloo Tornado in an interview with Decibel Magazine and expressed his displeasure, refusing to even look at the creation. Now, instead of turning tail and running, those pesky Igloo Tornado fellows created The Final Blow, a comic documenting what happened when the Decibel interviewer tried to show Danzig the collection, plus an imaginary scenario where their relationship is again misconstrued after the interviewer sees what looks like Danzig giving Rollins fellatio.
    • The Crazy Never Die was produced by the Mitchell Brothers. The Mitchell’s owned the infamous O’Farrell Theatre strip club in San Fransisco. They also produced the revolutionary, mainstream-porn hit Behind the Green Door. Thompson was a sometimes-doorman at the O’Farrell while he was researching his still-unpublished book, The Night Manager.
    • All my life I’ve heard Latin America described as a failed society (or collection of failed societies) because of its grotesque maldistribution of wealth. Peasants in rags beg for food outside the high walls of opulent villas, and so on. But according to the Central Intelligence Agency (whose patriotism I hesitate to question), income distribution in the United States is more unequal than in Guyana, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, and roughly on par with Uruguay, Argentina, and Ecuador. Income inequality is actually declining in Latin America even as it continues to increase in the United States. Economically speaking, the richest nation on earth is starting to resemble a banana republic. The main difference is that the United States is big enough to maintain geographic distance between the villa-dweller and the beggar.

    • Taylor Momsen is allegedly obsessed with fire, leaving her The Pretty Reckless bandmates ‘stunned’ by her bad habit to set random objects alight.
    • At least one picture shows an American soldier apparently raping a female prisoner while another is said to show a male translator raping a male detainee. Further photographs are said to depict sexual assaults on prisoners with objects including a truncheon, wire and a phosphorescent tube. Another apparently shows a female prisoner having her clothing forcibly removed to expose her breasts.
    • “The Led Zeppelin show depends heavily on volume, repetition and drums. It bears some resemblance to the trance music found in Morocco, which is magical in origin and purpose–that is, concerned with the evocation and control of spiritual forces. In Morocco, musicians are also magicians. Gnaoua music is used to drive out evil spirits. The music of Joujouka evokes the God Pan, Pan God of Panic, representing the real magical forces that sweep away the spurious. It is to be remembered that the origin of all the arts–music, painting and writing–is magical and evocative; and that magic is always used to obtain some definite result. In the Led Zeppelin concert, the result aimed at would seem to be the creation of energy in the performers and in the audience. For such magic to succeed, it must tap the sources of magical energy, and this can be dangerous.”
    • As much as it would make cops’ jobs easier (and, judging from this episode, it needs to be as easy as possible for these idiots to get anything done) pedophiles have not collectively decided to brand themselves with a logo so we can easily identify them. Jesus, cops can be dumb.
    • “Maybe he ain’t see me in Haiti because he was too busy sniffing cocaine.”
    • Last weekend, Craigslist, the popular provider of Internet classified advertising, halted publication of its “adult services” section. The move followed criticism from law enforcement officials across the country who have accused the site of facilitating prostitution on a massive scale. Of course, selling sex is an old business — most say the oldest. But as the Craigslist controversy proves, it’s also one of the fastest changing. And as a result, most people’s perceptions of the sex trade are wildly out of date.
    • I admit I was unfamiliar with Operation Dark Heart, the new book by former Defense Intelligence Agency officer and retired army reservist Anthony Shaffer, until I I admit I was unfamiliar with Operation Dark Heart, the new book by former Defense Intelligence Agency officer and retired army reservist Anthony Shaffer, until I read about it in the Times last night. But now I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy—partly because it sounds like an interesting read (tagline: “spycraft and special ops on the frontlines of Afghanistan and the path to victory”) but mostly because the Pentagon does want me (or you) to get a look at what’s inside.
    • What’s hard to know, though, is “what aliens might actually be like,” says Hawking. Most aliens are probably not complex, but those that are intelligent could pose a danger to humanity, he says. In defiance of efforts to communicate with extraterrestrial beings, Hawking says that if intelligent life is out there, we shouldn’t try to contact it: We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet. I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonise whatever planets they can reach.
    • The nine-year-old body of 9/11 conspiracy theories includes many improbable (and sometimes contradictory) claims, everything from remote-controlled planes flying into the World Trade Center, to a missile hitting the Pentagon, to mass kidnappings of air passengers. But a group of more than 1,200 architects and engineers is building what it hopes is a scientifically sound argument about one 9/11 claim: That the World Trade Center buildings were destroyed not by fires caused by the airplane collisions, but by a controlled demolition.
