It has been 80 years since the Lockheed Aircraft Company set up operations in Canada to facilitate the maintenance of Hudson bombers—manufactured in Burbank, California, and ferried to the UK through Canada—to support the war effort. Those early years were dedicated to supplying airplanes to the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Over the past seven and a half decades, the company has grown through mergers and acquisitions to form the company we know today as Lockheed Martin Canada led by Chief Executive, Lorraine Ben.
Today, we continue to enjoy well-earned relations with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) through the continued delivery and maintenance of the C-130J. Lockheed Martin Canada is also proud of more than thirty years of partnership with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) as its combat systems integrator.
Our portfolio has grown to include many military and commercial businesses, including unmanned vehicle controls (CDL Systems) and the repair and overhaul of commercial airplane engines (Lockheed Martin Commercial Engine Solutions). Every business area within Lockheed Martin is either under current contract with Canada or is pursuing significant program opportunities that range from radar platforms, simulation and training, repair and overhaul, military and civil IT solutions, health care, renewable energy, as well as the recapitalization of the RCAF and RCN fleets.
Over the past five years, Lockheed Martin has invested more than $35M in Canadian-based research and development and universities across Canada. Over the same period of time, the company has hired more than 150 new graduates and employed them on some of the most complex and dynamic engineering projects in the country and the future promises this trend to continue.
